An established Irish digital marketing agency approached us with a request to develop a new e-commerce solution for their client. Their client already had two separate online properties: a corporate website and a standalone online store. The store, however, was outdated, rarely used, and difficult to maintain. The goal was to migrate the shop into the main corporate site and redevelop its entire functionality, while preserving existing orders, customers, and products.

Project Challenges
A key challenge was the limited access to the old store, which made migration significantly more complex. Another critical feature was the contact lenses prescription form, a large and complicated flow on the old site that needed to be redesigned and streamlined.
During the project, another requirement emerged: instead of entering products directly in the CMS, the client’s team wanted to manage all product data through Google Sheets, requiring us to build a reliable import workflow. This added complexity, especially with a large volume of product images.

Use Google Sheet to upload products
Replace manual CMS product management with a reliable import process that syncs products and images from Google Sheets.
Our Solution
We integrated WooCommerce into the existing corporate website and fully customized the store templates. The design was carefully aligned with the corporate branding while preserving the familiarity of the old store’s structure. We also implemented additional features such as product filters, gift vouchers, shipping methods, and mailing integration.
For data migration, we developed a custom migration parser to extract orders, customers, and product data from the legacy store and import them into the new system. Despite limited access, this ensured that no critical business data was lost.
The prescription form was redesigned to be significantly simpler and more user-friendly, reducing friction for customers while lowering development and maintenance costs.
When it came to product management, we initially provided both video and text tutorials to guide the client through the admin panel. However, the team preferred using Google Sheets. To support this workflow, we eventually developed a custom import plugin that automated the bulk upload of images and product data from Google Sheets. This solution significantly reduced manual work and supported frequent catalog updates.
